My sons love bugs. They go buggy every time a boxelder bug wanders by and stare in fascination when they encounter a spider weaving its web (not around our home mind you, we have Nashville’s best protecting it). From an adult perspective, bugs are disgusting. Flies, for instance, dumpster dive then land on kitchen counters! Roaches scurry through the sewer then across the table where dinner is laid out. But for kids, bugs really are fascinating. To help you encourage your little one’s exploration of insects, I’ve compiled a list of activities, books and sites that my family enjoys!

Living in a world full of bugs provides plenty of fodder for young explorers however it does have its drawbacks as well. Namely, when insects threaten people and property. Here in Nashville, there are many bugs that become a nuisance or worse inside homes, which is why our family does what it does.
