Anna: I hate spiders. I have zero tolerance. I can't handle it. I completely understand when customers are freaked out about spiders. I can sympathize with them, I know what they're going through, I feel every emotion that they feel, as well.
John: I would say we get more calls about brown recluse. Even if they don't have them, just the concern of, "I want to know what kind of spider I do have." The customer can take a picture and send it to us. If they'll put a penny down beside the spider on the sticky trap, we'll know the size of it, we can positively identify it.
Jim: With brown recluse, people will perceive them as being a major, major health concern, and they are, but they are only for a certain percentage. With brown recluse spiders, only 20% of the population react at all. Only 10% react badly. The key to that is setting realistic expectations. You're never going to eliminated all brown recluse spiders. It cannot happen. What you can do is to lessen the contact, or the interaction, with our client and the spider. I'd rather be honest and tell you what's going to happen than be on the fore-end if there's going to be problems. You're going to need us from time to time, but we're here.
